Dr Anna Meyer

Anna completed her undergraduate dental training in 2005, graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction at the University of Otago in New Zealand. During this time, she was awarded the Leask Memorial Medal and the Lorna Patrick Memorial Prize for outstanding academic achievement. She then worked for several years as a general dentist in Wellington in both an emergency dental clinic as well as in a family dental practice.
As Anna always held a keen interest in Orthodontics, she moved to Australia in 2009 to undertake her specialty training through a clinical doctorate degree at the University of Melbourne. Upon graduating, she received the prestigious Australian Society of Orthodontists’ Milton Sims Award for academic and clinical excellence. She also received the ElsdonStorey Award for the best research thesis amongst the graduating year of orthodontic residents throughout Australia. Anna has since had her research published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and DentofacialOrthopaedics. In addition, she has qualified as a member of both the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthodontics. She is also a certified member of the Australian Orthodontic Board.
In addition to working in specialist orthodontic private practice, Anna also spends a day a week working at the Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital. She is involved with the clinical teaching of undergraduate orthodontics at both the University of Melbourne and at La Trobe University. To keep up to date with the latest advances in the field Anna regularly attends conferences and courses, both nationally and internationally. This is to ensure that she can continue to provide her patients with the best possible evidence-based treatment.
Anna absolutely loves her work as she finds it extremely rewarding. She believes working together with her patients is the best way to achieve optimal functional results and a beautiful smile. Her favourite part of her job is getting to know her patients and then seeing their confidence grow as their treatment progresses.
Outside work, Anna enjoys spending time with her husband Duncan and daughter Vivienne. She also makes attempts at watercolour painting and loves spending time outdoors
