Am I too old to get braces or start orthodontic treatment?

RonaldJune 2, 2017

Orthodontic treatment can be done at any age. In fact, we have more adult patients undergoing orthodontic treatment than ever. Often, parents see their children undergo treatment and realise that with modern technologies and techniques, orthodontic treatment is very tolerable. We also offer multiple aesthetic options and use SureSmile which can reduce the length of orthodontic treatment.

Aesthetic orthodontic options

  • Ceramic braces – braces made of a material which blends in with your natural tooth shade and therefore are less obvious then metal braces
  • Lingual braces – braces placed on the inside of your teeth. This option may seem uncomfortable for your tongue, most adults report that they get used to it and are very happy with this truly ‘invisible’ option. Lingual braces work as well as conventional braces and give very predictable and stable results in the long-term.
  • Invisalign – a series of aligners (like very thin mouthguards) which are worn in a specific sequence to move your teeth. Case selection and the suitability of this option is dependent on the degree of difficulty of each case.

SureSmile

SureSmile is a process which creates customised orthodontic wires to straighten teeth. These wires are designed by our specialist orthodontists and manufactured by robots with bends tailored to your teeth and bite to achieve ideal alignment in the shortest possible time.

If improving your bite or smile has always been something you have been meaning to do, come in and speak to us about your options. We will run through everything you need to know in detail so you can make an informed decision about what suits you best!
